The Sweet Scent of Lilac - A Series About These Magical & Ephemeral Blossoms

Over this next month, I will be doing a series featuring lilacs. Along the way I will be pointing out the properties and some of the wonderful things that they can be used for. When I was a child my very favorite flowers were lilacs. Till this day I still do love their scent so much because it is sweet but not too cloying. To me they have always been a reminder that summer is just around the corner. I have a lilac bush just outside my door and I am very much looking forward to it blooming. Here in my zone, they should be blooming in the next couple of weeks.

Lilacs are associated with love, creation, death, reincarnation, basically all the life cycles. Lilac blossoms do not fade in hot water which makes them a perfect addition to the bathwater. Taking a bath with lilacs is just kind of magical. You can also add essential oils to the bath along with some sea salt or Epsom salts if you would like. Fresh lilacs pair nicely with juniper essential oil for a delightful floral and woodsy comb or lilac and tangerine essential oil for another delicious skin loving combination.
