The time is
drawing nigh for the lovely lilac and their blooming season is coming to an
end. I still do have some flowers left on the lilac tree and I am going to
utilize whatever I can because it will be another year before they bloom again.
Today in this post I have included directions bellow for how to make a lilac
infused face, body and or massage oil. However first I will share some fun
facts about the lilac, and I will also mention some of the olfactory and the topical
healing properties of them as well.

To make
lilac oil:
Pick lilac
flowers and allow them to dry over night on a paper towel. Do not wash them
because this can lead to the oil becoming rancid. If there is any unwanted
organic matter, simply shake the blossoms to get it off.
Place wilted
lilac blossoms in a jar (fill the jar but do not pack it tightly) and cover
with the carrier oil of your choice, I like sunflower oil. Make sure flowers
are completely covered with oil; push down with a spoon or a chopstick if
necessary. Allow the oil to infuse in a cool dark place for 4 to 6 weeks. Shake
container every few days. When done infusing, strain flowers from oil, bottle
and use as a facial, body or massage oil.
